Mariko has dropped off a new EP called Sweet Nothings. Mariko, originally from Delaware and now based in Los Angeles, Mariko brings a rich tapestry of cultural influences to her music. With African-American and Japanese heritage from her mother, as well as African-American and Native American lineage from her father, Mariko’s diverse background shapes her unique sound. Her time living in Mexico City and her ongoing exploration of Japanese language and culture further enrich her artistic expression. Her latest offering, Sweet Nothings, is a smooth, colorful 6-track release that is soulful, refreshing, and versatile with its engaging blend of R&B with hip-hop, jazz and pop influences.

Infectious melodies, vibrant instrumentation, and focused songwriting characterizes Sweet Nothings, with the EP captivating right off the bat with the balmy grooves of "Incredible". Blending rich guitars with a potent rhythm section, the track's instrumentation provides a solid backdrop for Mariko's vocals, which present a dynamic, genre-bending style that combines R&B, hip-hop, and pop influences. "More Than Friends" includes atmospheric touches that take the track to new heights, with sweltering keys and house-inspired rhythms giving way to engaging, sultry vocals. Closer "Wait For Your Love" provides a smooth, sleek finisher with orchestral flourishes and heartfelt vocals that end the EP with a soulful feel.

Mariko's latest release, Sweet Nothings, displays sharp songwriting skills and a warm, sultry sound across its smooth 6-song run-time.
