Snafu launches $1M creator fund to empower women in music

In honour of Women's History Month, Swedish music tech company Snafu launches the $1 million Snafu Women’s Creator Fund, addressing the music industry's gender disparity. With less than 22% of streams attributed to female artists on platforms like Spotify, Snafu aims to bolster female creators through advances, catalog growth, A&R opportunities, women-only writing camps, and mentoring. Snafu will release a women's only compilation album and promote female-created tracks across playlists and social media to create a supportive community.

The fund's genesis lies in Snafu's $5 million artist support experience, revealing a significant underrepresentation of women in music's 'middle class'. Mira Howard, Head of Snafu's Song Fund, stresses the fund's broader goal: shifting the percentage of women making a living in music.

Female artists, producers, and songwriters seeking industry impact are invited to apply, with evaluation based on catalog strength and unreleased music. Details are available on the Snafu website or via email.

Snafu Records, headquartered in Stockholm, is the world's first AI-enabled record label, empowering artists through innovative technology. The Snafu Women’s Creator Fund promises a transformative opportunity for female creators, ushering in a more inclusive and equitable era for the music industry.
