The Horrors emerge from the darkness with "The Silence That Remains"

What a week to be goth!

The Cure releases their first new music in sixteen years and now The Horrors, Faris Badwan and his crew of Robert Smith's musical descendants emerge from the shadows after a prolonged hibernation to let seep brand new material with a new lineup.

The skittering drums and prowling basslines swirl around singer Badwan's trademark smoky, laid-back tenor tone as he outlines tales of terror, half-awake dreams and puts the past to bed. Both in terms of the relationships and the band's history. They've always explored the seamier sides of visceral sounds and electronica, folding it into the gloom of their sparse guitars and rimshot beats.

This is the surprise first taste of a brand new album "Night Life" due out in March next year. As the insomniac dizziness of this song whirrs around your brain it promises fresh hopes of The Horrors return befitting their already impressive catalog of dark, gothic music. Bring on Nosferatu!
